On this 1974 recording, musical family band The Bergerfolk, composed of father Steve, mother Phoebe Berger, and four of their children, Jennifer Anne, Margaret Louise, Jonathan Glenn, and Emily-Kate, perform a wide selection of traditional and modern folk music covers. The Bergerfolk open with a song first performed by the Carter Family, "Darling Pal of Mine," and close with the spiritual "Michael, Row the Boat Ashore." Along the way they perform Tom Paxton's "hat Did You Learn in School Today," the late-1960s folk rock anthem "Get Together," originally recorded by the Youngbloods, and John Denver's "Sunshine." On this 1973 recording, musical family band The Bergerfolk offer a wide selection of folk songs from traditional ("Free Little Bird") to modern ("The Circus" by Don McLean). The group is composed of banjo-playing patriarch Steve, his wife Phoebe on guitar and autoharp, and their five children: Claudia, Jennifer, Margaret, Jonathan, and Emily-Kate. This is the second of four albums they recorded for Folkways Records. One of the best-known songs heard here is the famous anti-war anthem "Masters of War," written and originally recorded by Bob Dylan. The Bergerfolk close with Peter Yarrow’s "Weave Me the Sunshine." In 1978, the folk singing family band The Bergerfolk recorded their fourth and final album for Folkways. Steve and Phoebe Berger, along with four of their children, perform their interpretation of 16 traditional and modern folk songs. The Bergerfolk open with Richard Farina’s "Pack Up Your Sorrows" and close with the 18th-century hymn "Amazing Grace." In between are traditional folk songs such as "Banks of the Ohio" and "Jessie James," and songs written by Woody Guthrie ("Roll On, Columbia" and "This Land Is Your Land") and by Buffy Sainte-Marie ("Until It’s Time for You to Go" and "Universal Soldier"). Lyrics, songwriting credits, and instrumentation for all tracks are included in the liner notes.

The musical family band Bergerfolk performs a collection of traditional, modern, and original folk songs on this, the first of 4 albums they recorded for Folkways Records. The family consists of dentist and banjo player Steve Berger, his wife Phoebe, and their five children: Claudia, Jennifer, Margaret, Jonathan and Emily. The Bergerfolk lend their vocals and instrumentation to renditions of traditional tunes, including "Amazing Grace" "What'll We Do with the Drunken Sailor" and "I’ll Fly Away". The group covers two songs written and originally recorded by Woody Guthrie: "Deportee (Plane Wreck at Los Gatos)" and "I'm Gonna Mail Myself to You". They also perform two original songs written by Phoebe Berger: "We Are Going to the Zoo" and "Plastic Grass". The album closes with "Day Is Done" penned by Peter Yarrow of the folk trio Peter, Paul and Mary. An introduction by Phoebe Berger and all song lyrics are included in the liner notes.
