[Notes]
In 1979, Folkways released this instructional album by Kevin Roth on playing the Appalachian or mountain dulcimer. In the recording, Roth instructs his student "Herman Klutzmeyer" in the art of tuning and playing both the three- and four-stringed dulcimer. The final ten tracks are a demonstration of the dulcimer playing solo and with other instruments. Selections in this grouping include "Ola Belles Blues," "Duncan," "Old Joe Clark," "Shady Grove," and "The Patriot Game."

[Notes]
On his tenth album for Folkways, dulcimer player and singer Kevin Roth performs a mix of five vocals and seven instrumentals. Roth opens with the title track by fellow singer Andrew Calhoun. Along his musical journey Roth plays several traditional instrumentals including the medley "Kemp's Jig / Over the Rainbow" and four French songs (Jacques Brel's "The Song of Old Lovers" and “Marieke," avant-garde composer Erik Satie's "Gnosienne," and traditional French folk song "La Carmagnole"), and sings Jimmie Rogers’ "I Love the Woman (the last blue yodel)." He closes with Marti Rogers' "Lucid." Folkways founder Moses Asch contributes a brief liner note. Song lyrics and composer and performer credits are included.
