[Notes]
Arizona native Katie Lee demonstrates her true love of her surroundings through this collection of environmentally themed folk songs. The 14 songs Lee performs—accompanying herself on guitar—focus on the Colorado River and the adverse environmental effects caused by the damming of the river. The liner notes for this 1964 recording offer a mix of the artist’s poems and commentary on the Colorado River, and the selection of songs she performs. In 2011, Lee was inducted into the Arizona Music Hall of Fame.
