Part of Arhoolie’s Tejano Roots series, Orquesta Tejanas, is a compilation of some of the important orquesta tejana performers of the 1940’s and 1950’s including Beto Villa, Isidro Lopez, Balde Gonzalez, and Chris Sandoval. Thought the style of music is similar, each artist brings their own unique flair to each song and melody. The liner notes provide a history of orquesta tejana and information about each artist included in this collection.
